Welcome!

Hey!! I am so glad you have trusted me to find you amazing deals on things you are already going to buy! Full disclosure, I am an Amazon Affiliate, so I may make a small commission off any purchases.

Since that is out of the way, a little about me! I am a wife, mom or two kids, we have two dogs, we are from Texas, I work from home for an amazing office, and get to keep the kids home during the day to homeschool! We are beyond blessed!

We bought our first home two years ago. If you have moved into a house at any point in your life, you know there are so many things to buy, even when you think you have everything. I found a group similar to mine on Facebook and was able to buy things at some kind of discount that I was going to purchase anyway.

Fast forward two years, and now I want to pass along the opportunity to save to you! And everyone you know! I hate paying retail for things, especially big ticket items. And lets face it, none of us have the bank account of a movie star! Every little bit and penny saved counts!

At 37 years old, I am also attempting my first real budget/money management project. I will share what works for me, what doesn’t, and ideas I come across with you. Templates I create will be available on my Etsy shop Be on the look out for free content, too! https://www.etsy.com/shop/AShermanWrites

Cooking has never been my forte either, so I will share simple recipes that literally everyone can make!! I am a huge fan of our Ninja 10-in-1 cooker, my Crock Pot and my Instant Pot! I don’t turn my oven on if I don’t have to! Recipes will be quick, easy, minimal ingredients, because that’s my style!

Again, thank you so much for joining me and please feel free to leave suggestions on things you would love to see! Subscribe to stay updated on new content!

Planning My Life Away

For as long as I can remember, I have had a planner addiction. Let’s just call it what it is! Step 1, right? I love the look of planners, the promise of organization, all the blank spaces to write down the activities of our lives! But, it never fails. Each year I look through tons of options, decide on a few and purchase them. Only for these things of beauty to become paper weights and collectors of dust. Every. Single. Year.

So why is this year any different? Ha, it may not be! In all honestly, my efforts could trail off just like every other year. But, I’m going to try! I have my pages printed out and set up in a three ring binder. There are different sections for the entire house. Bills, finances, food, meal planners, recipes, cleaning, password logs, emergency contact lists, you name it and it’s probably in this binder!

I just spent time actually planning out my meals for the next 2 weeks! Can you believe it!? I was feeling brave!

i have mentioned I am not a huge fan of cooking. The easier the recipe is, the better. I printed out some new recipes to try that promise to be under 30 minutes from start to finish. And then made notes in my meal plan of where I put there recipes, and then, wait for it, I put them in their appropriate sections! I know, I’m just as surprised as you! It’s a big step for me, to be honest.

i have had all these pages printed out and in my bright pink binder for a week now. But last week was a bust. It was a bust all the way around, so we just survived.

Our daughter has been asleep for a few hours now taking a nap, so that has helped tremendously on my ability to complete the meal plans and my grocery list for next week. Our son has been entertaining himself, as usual. And my husband has also been deep in slumber. First in our room, then he transferred to the couch. Like I said, it was a long week!

Tomorrow is Sunday, the start of a new week. The kids and I plan to visit our local zoo and spend some time outside. Then I will get to work on the meal prepping for the week.

Have a great and blessed week! Remember, any day is a good day to actually start planning and living your best life!

How Did We Get Here?

Am I talking financially, personally, professionally, education, relationships? Yes, all of it! It’s all hard, every last bit of it is so flipping hard at times. But, if it were easy, would it be worth it?

Let’s start with finances. We don’t learn this stuff in school. Well, I had a teacher in 6th grade who made us paper checks, and we ran a business in our classroom. We got paid once a month or something, and had to budget our money to last until we got paid again. We all had different jobs, different families, etc. I do not remember my career and family situation, but I remember that dang check book and having to write checks out for stuff! It was not fun! But the whole experience was. I remember that same teacher had taken some of us to a poetry contest and we stopped for lunch on the way. She told us how her dad made all the kids calculate the change that the fast food worker was supposed to give back from the money he gave them. And they had to figure it out before they change was given. From that day on, I did the same and it really helped my math skills!

Back to my point, finances. If you read my Welcome post, you saw I am 37 and just now really trying to stick to a budget, cut out excess spending, try to actually save money and put some up for next Christmas! Wish me luck! I found an expense sheet that I posted to my Etsy site (AShermanWrites) if you want to grab it for yourself. And a monthly budget sheet, too! So far, I went over on our groceries for this week, but I’m hoping I don’t have to get anything next week, and that will save me money! Fingers crossed!

Personally, I am a mess! Aren’t we all though? I mean really! My husband and I have been married for a little over 11 years, been together for almost 13. It’s safe to say we have gotten on each other’s nerves a time or two! But, we work through it. And we work at working through it the right way. We have two kids, a 10 year old son and an almost 4 year old daughter. Our son is on the Autism spectrum, which presents it’s own set of obstacles. But, again, we work through it. We are in our first year of homeschooling him, and he is loving it. We have a membership to the zoo and both kids love to go see the animals. We learn everywhere, intentionally. He is helping me learn to be a better person and a better mom, God willing! Our daughter is a fire cracker to say the least! Total opposite personality of our son. She loves and adores her brother, princesses, horses, and mermaids. But she will get down in the floor and play with our two German Shepherds at any time! Both kids are amazing and teach us new things each day. I work for a dental practice, from home, handling all insurance related tasks. Dental has been my job for over 5 years of my professional career, and medical has taken up much of the remaining time. Recently I have dipped into the world of freelance writing, website building, and hope to work on Facebook group management type projects.

How did I get here, writing this blog, creating content, sharing deals? I started a small business early 2022, an online store of sorts, that initially was home décor, and turned into women’s accessories, purses, cups, jewelry, etc. It was fun, but ultimately was not for me. I realized I needed to stay completely digital in whatever I do. I dabbled in learning copy writing, and then found a couple courses on affiliate marketing. I am still working through those courses, and am always learning. One can never stop learning because then they stop living is my thought. I hate those cheesy sounding sales pitches and really try not to be that way!

So, that’s how I got to where I am now. Sitting at my computer, hacking away at the keyboard and eating mini marshmallows!

First Things First

Before we get too deep into all the goodness that will be, lets establish some ground rules. Probably 95% of the recipes I post will either be made in an Instant Pot, a Crock Pot, or our Ninja 10-in-1 XL Pro. Therefore directions will align with those appliances.

There are very few times I turn on my actual oven. It makes my kitchen way too hot, even in the winter. And I’m cold natured, I like heat! I do use my stove top to cook the kids mac and cheese, or brown up some meat when I don’t need to finish the recipe in my Instant Pot.

Tip: if you use the Ninja machine like I have, https://amzn.to/3X7UrjV do yourself a favor. Put tin foil on the basket tray. It makes clean up so much easier!!

Tip 2: Crock pot liners!! I can’t sing their praises enough! My Crock pot is never used without them. And if I happen to run out, I find another recipe! it’s that serious.

Tip 3: In a plain air fryer, I see these liners all the time, https://amzn.to/3WUSIPl I’m sure they would help with clean up, also. They are on my list to purchase as our son has discovered he can peel, chop and cook cheese fries from potatoes in the air fryer!

Ya’ll enjoy!
